Easy Homemade Apple Sauce
Ingredients
8 cups peeled, cored, and diced apples
1/2 lime
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground ginger or pumpkin pie spice
Directions
Put apples in a sauce pan and squeeze lime over them, so that they don’t turn brown (and adds a bit of tartness).
Pour water and brown sugar over the apples, add spice and stir.
Cover, and cook at a low boil for 10 – 15 minutes.
Mash a bit with a potato masher.

Peel, core and slice enough apples to fill whatever size pan you are using, fill the pan with water or apple juice (or a combo of both) until the apples are not quite covered...simmer on medium heat until they are mushy, I use a potato masher to mash them as they cook down....season to taste with sugar and I like to use apple pie spice but you can use cinnamon and little nutmeg if you like.

There are tree moving services that you could contact that would have the expertise and equipment to do the job, but they are usually quite expensive. A tree of that size could be moved with a tree spade, but it would probably run you several thousand dollars to have it done. It would be a lot cheaper to just get a larger caliper replacement tree and plant it where you would like it.

The root system on your tree is probably quite large, and digging it up and moving it will most likely require large equipment and the expertise of an arborist. Larger trees are usually dug up with a backhoe and moved on a flatbed, or a tree spade is used.
A good idea when you move established trees or large shrubs is to root prune them prior to transplanting. If you just dig up a tree you cut all of the roots. Usually the only roots left are the larger variety, with few of the smaller fibrous roots that take up nutrients and water and speed up recovery.
Root pruning involves cutting part of the roots near the trunk (at a distance where the root ball will eventually be excavated) so that new fibrous roots will have time to form near the trunk before the rest of the large roots are cut during removal. If this is done there will be fibrous roots in the tree's rootball when it is moved, and it has a better chance establishing itself quickly in its new location. Root pruning is often done a season before the tree or large shrub is moved.
This sounds complicated, but it is pretty straightforward. Contact an arborist and he/she can help you plan.

Spiced Applesauce:
Ingredients:
12 oz granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
12 oz golden delicious apples, peeled and sliced
2/3 cup water
2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
2 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground cardamom
Preparation:
Combine first 4 ingredients in a heavy saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, cover and simmer about 20 minutes, or until apples are tender. Uncover and cook 10 minutes longer, stirring frequently, until mixture thickens.
Mash with a potato masher until chunky applesauce forms. Stir in sugar and spices. Transfer to a bowl, cover and chill overnight.

12 washed, peeled, red delicious apples, or whatever type you choose.
Peel, core, slice into chunks. Add enough water to just cover them. Add tiny pinch of salt. Add 1/2 cup of sugar if you intend to sweeten the applesauce, otherwise, omit. I do not sweeten the applesauce ever when I make this. It's your personal preference.
Cook until soft and mushy. Drain. Place in large bowl.
Depending on if you want chunky or smooth, mash to the correct consistency. If you have a food processor, use that to puree or a blender. Or can just leave chunky, mashing with a fork.
Add 1 teaspoon of Saigon Cinnamon spice.
Stir well and chill or serve warm. Will make about 9-10 servings. ENJOY!

I peel and core 12 or so apples (prefer Fuji or Braeburn) chunk them and add them to a medium sized pot until pot is 3/4 full of apples with 1 inch of water. Turn burner on low, cover and let simmer all day, yep all day - from time to time (every 1/2 hr or so) I stir them and smell the wonderful aroma. At the end of the day I chunk them a little more I use a potato masher (never puree) and serve with dinner AWESOME! I have lots leftover so I use it for the rest of the week, just keep it in a covered container in the refrigerator. It is wonderful cold also. Enjoy! FYI: I do not add anything to these apples just as is, awesome taste, you will be impressed.
